Debra was a kind-hearted person with a stalwart tenacity who cultivated caring relationships and took care of those around her. She embraced this divine purpose as her kids grew older and grandchildren filled spaces in her heart that would become sources of focus and strength (Justin, Mikayla, Johnathan, Emily, Chase and Ella). She had a sister, Linda, who passed away from Leukemia as a toddler. Being diagnosed herself with Leukemia in 2014, Debra took up the mantle and became involved in the fight for a cure. The Dempsey Center opened in Lewiston, Maine, also the hometown of Patrick Dempsey. This allowed her to become involved in the fight to a greater extent. Debra completed one of the Dempsey challenges with her daughter prior to moving out of the area. She continued to be an advocate for the center as she fought her own battle with Leukemia. Her doggedness helped her in her struggle. Like those suffering from various forms of cancer, the battle was laden with good days and bad ones. She developed character in action through discipline, courage, and the strength to move beyond the barriers in her life. She endeavored to instill a commitment to excellence in her family and friends by living a life based on solid values. So dearly loved. So sadly missed. Memories of Debra will never die nor will they fade as time goes by.
