Survivor Walk, presented by Amgen's Breakaway from Cancer

The Dempsey Challenge invites survivors, caregivers, families, and those walking in honor or memory of someone special to join us to walk in unity for those impacted by cancer. The Survivor Walk will take place immediately following the presentation of The Amanda Dempsey Award winner, who will lead the walk with Patrick Dempsey and his family for this memorable moment.

Amanda Dempsey Award

Named in memory of Amanda Dempsey, the award is given annually to a cancer survivor who demonstrates a passion for helping others with cancer in the state of Maine. Although Amanda was reserved and humble, she had a warm presence, and was passionate about giving back to her community.

Champions for Hope presented by TAG Heuer

Dempsey Challengers who achieve $3,000+ in fundraising will receive an invitation to a beautiful evening at our Champions for Hope celebration with Patrick Dempsey. Top fundraisers will hear stories of inspiration and see firsthand how their fundraising directly impacts those living with cancer, as we honor them within the walls of the Dempsey Center in Lewiston.

Kids' Fun Run

Led by mascots like the Bates Bobcat and Slugger the Sea Dog, the Kids’ Fun Run is an awesome way for kids ages 10 & under to participate in the Challenge! Kids will run about ¼ mile on a closed course. We encourage all littles and families to come dressed as their favorite superhero and join us in the fight against cancer!

College Cup Challenge

The College Cup Challenge is a competition open to all Maine colleges and universities as they compete for the largest number of Dempsey Challenge participants!

The top fundraisers from the winning school will join Patrick Dempsey (wearing your school colors!) on stage during the Dempsey Challenge presentation of the coveted College Cup AND you’ll get a group photo with Patrick Dempsey!


Vivian St. Onge Rickshaw Team Ride

Presented by the Short Folks for Hope Foundation, the Vivian St. Onge Rickshaw Team Ride enables cancer warriors to experience the joy and exhilaration of the Dempsey Challenge ride with team pedicab drivers. Launched at the 2014 Dempsey Challenge, this amazing addition continues to support and inspire those impacted by cancer.

C3 Ride

Challenge to Conquer Cancer (C3) is an annual charity bicycle ride from Greenville, SC to Lewiston, ME. This amazing crew embarks on a 1,300-mile route where teams of up to 5 riders each will ride, relay-style, over several days, arriving in Lewiston in time to kick of the Dempsey Challenge. 

Stick around after Packet Pickup on Friday to watch this inspiring team ride into the park and help welcome them to Maine after a long journey!
