American Cancer Society

More than half of all cancer deaths can be prevented by being tobacco-free, eating healthy, being physically active and getting recommended cancer screenings. Providing everyone with the opportunity to have a healthy lifestyle and true access to cancer screenings - like mammograms and colonoscopies - could save thousands of lives every year.

The American Cancer Society is a global grassroots force of 1.5 million volunteers dedicated to saving lives, celebrating lives, and leading the fight for a world without cancer. From breakthrough research, including development of screening guidelines, to free lodging near treatment, a 24/7/365 live helpline, free rides to treatment, and convening powerful activists to create awareness and impact, the Society is the only organization attacking cancer from every angle.

Maine WinterKids

WinterKids is committed to helping children be active and exploring outside in the winter, and year-round. During the darker, colder days of winter, kids tend to hibernate. We make it our mission to get kids off the couch, away from their desk, and into the great outdoors. To this end, we offer and array of innovative, outdoor public health programs for families, schools and communities in all 16 counties of Maine. Our programs aim to build healthy habits in young children to prevent obesity and obesity-related programs such as cancer, diabetes, and high blood pressure. We increase outdoor physical activity through the WinterKids App, offering winter sports at 80+ winter sports areas; the WinterKids Winter Games, a physical activity and nutrition challenge in elementary schools; and, with teacher trainings and outdoor family events statewide.  Outdoor kids are active kids. Active kids are healthy kids. Healthy kids are happy kids. We are proud to support the Dempsey Center in their efforts. For more information on WinterKids programs, please visit www.winterkids.org and our social channels.
